Our Incredibility Rating (how strange we think this is). This video is a great example of an utterly incredible ability of the Mimic Octopus. The species was not discovered until 1998 as divers mistook specimens for other species that it was mimicking. It is thought that the octopus chooses what animal or plant to mimic depending on what predators are nearby.

Moronic Acid? Vomicine? Commic Acid? Are these for real? Godnose!
This post might need an “Over 18s Only” rating since some of the (real) chemical names are a trifle risque. The pictures are SFW though - even Carnalite!
Did you know that the anti-coagulant factor in the saliva of vampire bats is called “Draculite”?

There are about 6.5 billion humans on the planet, but we are by far outnumbered by insects. There are at least a million insects for every one of us!
With over a million species described, insects are a major group of arthropods and the most diverse group of animals on the Earth — more than half of all known living organisms — with estimates of undescribed species as high as 30 million, potentially representing at least 80% and maybe over 90% of the life forms on the planet. Together they would weigh more than 12 times as much as the human race!
