16 year old works out how to degrade plastic bags in weeks!

A story with some currency today but really incredible. After all the fuss about the use of plastics and the clamp-down on the use of plastic carrier bags, a schoolboy from Canada working on a science project has worked out what the world’s chemists could not. Daniel Burd isolated the bacteria that will degrade plastic in a few weeks rather than the tens of thousands of years predicted. Dan has developed a method that can easily be adapted to industrial applications.
